Sketch of the Day! SPIDEY & GREEN GOBLIN

Tony

spidey_gg_web.jpg

It's been a helluva while since i did daily sketches, but i've recently added COMMISSIONS to the site, and orders are starting to roll in, so i figured i'd post what i've been doing for those as well as some i've done recently just for the hell of it. This costumer requesed Spidey & Green Goblin, with a Romita influence. i had a lot of fun with it, since i'd never drawn GG before.

You can commission your very own piece over in my STORE.

9" x 12", inks & acrylics (w/ Raphael brushes) and Copic Marker on Strathmore toned paper.

GUTS cover

Tony

I've been asked to contribute the cover for an upcoming book called GUTS: The Anatomy of The Walking Dead. I was excited for the opportunity, and decided to paint the thing, which was a definite challenge. Here's the painting's final state, without the logo and trade dress. i hope you dig it!

Sketch of the Day! DOBBY (featuring Sifl & Olly!)

Tony

My daughter is back on the HARRY POTTER train, and just wrapped up The Chamber of Secrets. I wanted to do something fun with DOBBY, and immediately my mind jumped to laughing at Sifl and Olly back when i was in college.

You can find the original for this piece over in my STORE.

8.5" x 9", inks & acrylics (w/ Raphael brushes) and Copic Marker on chipboard.

Sketch of the Day! DONALD TRUMP

Tony

Hail to the King Baby.

It is my firm belief that the Trump administration is going to be absolute poison for our country. He and his appointed cronies strike me as hell-bent on undoing as much social, educational, and scientific progress as they can get their hands on, pledging to defund the arts, public schools, and healthcare at every turn. One major institution which has come under extreme fire both figuratively and literally is Planned Parenthood. Politicians on the Right have gone out of their way to vilify this service, but the truth is, no federal funds are used for abortions, and Planned Parenthood provides crucial health services such as screenings, preventive care, birth control, and much much more to women and families of all walks of life, urban and rural alike, and is often the primary source of care for women in poverty.

And so, I'm offering up this image, and
I'LL BE DONATING 100% OF THE PROCEEDS TO PLANNED PARENTHOOD!
I'm selling the ORIGINAL ART, and also these $10 ART PRINTS.

Sketch of the Day! DR STRANGE

Tony

A few years back, when i was drawing DEADPOOL, Gerry Duggan sent some of the pages featuring DR STRANGE to the great STEVE DITKO, with whom he maintained a sort of pen-pal relationship. Ditko responded simply that the pages contained some "interesting visuals." Given the searing responses i'd heard many have received from Mr Ditko, i took his choice to not eviscerate me as some of the highest praise of my career.

8.5" x 9.75, inks & acrylics and Copic Marker on chipboard.

Sketch of the Day! LOBO

Tony

Yeah, i like drawing th' Main Man. That book was one of the primary forces in warping my young prepubescent mind. I did this sketch on the road a while back, which i live-broadcast on my Facebook page. I recently got some new pens, and was thrilled with the textures i was getting out of it.

This piece is 8.5" x 11", ink on card stock.

Sketch of the Day! MARV (Sin City)

Tony

Frank Miller's SIN CITY is one of the comics industry's beacons for creator-owned properties. Miller was (and is) one of my comics heroes. and this book showcased him doing his thing in his element, which was an amazing thing to see, and hugely influential to me as a budding comics creator.
